The Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology (DBB) is part of URV since its beginnings, the year 1991. The DBB teaches in bachelor's degrees in Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Oenology, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Chemistry, Agricultural and Food Engineering, Bioprocess and Food Engineering, Pre-School Education, Primary Education, Nursing and Medicine. Regarding the postgraduate teaching it participates in master's degrees in Nutrition and Metabolism, Fermented Beverages, Erasmus Mundus Wintour and Training for Teachers of Compulsory Secondary Education and Upper Secondary Education, Professional Training and Language Teaching, as well as in two doctoral degrees, Nutrition and Metabolism and Oenology and Biotechnology.
Regarding the research, in the DBB are developing its activity eight research groups which participate in different European and state funded projects, with many national and international collaborations. Nevertheless, the DBB has a relevant activity of technological transfer with the processed food and oenological industry.
Moreover, the DBB is involved in other activities related to teaching and researching, such as conferences, training days and activities organization.
